To address energy and environmental issues in Indonesia, the ISEE Foundation conducts activities to raise awareness regarding clean energy management and environmental sustainability. These activities include:
a. Training on Energy Resilience and Environmental Sustainability Education: ISEE collaborates with other institutions to foster environmental awareness, promote energy conservation, and encourage the use of renewable energy through outreach and training aimed at building a better Indonesia. Training sessions are designed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and empower communities to respond appropriately to environmental conditions and excessive energy consumption. ISEE has experience in community empowerment initiatives involving the Suku Anak Dalam tribe (Sarolangun), coastal communities (specifically those near SAKA Energi operations), communities at risk of tsunamis, and communities with the potential to utilize new and renewable energy.
b. Energy and Environmental Conservation Research and Development: ISEE collaborates continuously with various entities—including SKK Migas, Petrochina, SAKA Energi, the East Java Government, and East Java regional-owned enterprises (BUMD)—as well as academic institutions such as the ITB Alumni Association and Padjadjaran University. These partnerships focus on developing and utilizing renewable energy to protect the environment. The research aims to provide information on progressive and efficient renewable energy solutions and to identify opportunities for fostering environmental sustainability within communities.
c. Strengthening Networks between Academic Institutions and Civil Society Organizations: To improve access to justice for vulnerable groups, ISEE and various Civil Society Organizations are strengthening networks for industrial waste management and disaster preparedness, aiming to anticipate potential industrial or natural disasters. ISEE facilitates inter-institutional cooperation to accelerate partnerships among government, private sector, and conscious stakeholders. It also supports academic institutions and Civil Society Organizations in building capacity for documentation and the dissemination of knowledge regarding energy and the environment.
d. Community Empowerment Based on Environmental Sustainability: ISEE provides empowerment support aimed at improving community well-being and fostering a commitment to environmental sustainability; this initiative seeks to raise awareness regarding the importance of renewable energy and community sustainability.
e. Monitoring the Impact of Infrastructure Projects in Indonesia on Vulnerable Groups. ISEE participates in monitoring the impacts of infrastructure projects in Indonesia that are financed through loans from international financial institutions. This monitoring aims to shed light on the barriers vulnerable groups in Indonesia face in accessing justice due to these infrastructure projects, as well as the projects’ effects on energy utilization and opportunities for environmental sustainability.
