Urban Waste Management Through Eco-Friendly Waste-to-Energy Technology
Presidential Regulation No. 109/2025 establishes the legal framework for converting urban waste into renewable energy using eco-friendly technologies. Aimed at addressing the national waste emergency, this policy converts waste into electricity, bioenergy, and fuel. It outlines central and local government responsibilities, while engaging business entities to build efficient processing infrastructure. Furthermore, it regulates licensing, investment, and power purchase mechanisms with PT PLN. Through this regulation, the government aims to boost energy security, improve environmental quality, and replace previous regulations to accelerate effective waste management.
